Egg topper

An investigation of various interactions between humans and eggs, with the objective of discovering the most intuitive way to crack an egg open.

Ideations and experiments

After some chaotic experiments, I went in depth with a couple of different directions as follows.

Scoring

Conclusion: scoring does not grab the egg shell very well.

Using conserved momentum

Conclusion: using hand does not exert the force well.

At this stage, I have exhausted a lot of ideas and felt really stuck. Then I came across an existing egg topper, and it was able to crack the egg successfully after several testings. However, it did not look comprehensive enough for the customers to understand how it works at the first sight, so I decided to embellish it by studying and modifying the design.
