Echo Yuan is a product and industrial designer based in Brooklyn, New York. She is interested in taking something we already know and challenging our preconceived notions of the subject. Through observing, learning, and thinking, this process refreshes our  ways of perceiving the surroundings. While her work focuses heavily on tangible products, she also enjoys exploring and working with different mediums, and she is always excited to play with new tools.

Shan, inspired by the shape of traditional handheld fan, is a lighting that stimulates interaction and holds a natural aesthetics while being capable of mass-produced through modernized techniques.

Aiming for an effortless and fluent interaction, Shan is designed to have the user adjusting the lightness by a simple hand movement.
